The first time I tried titanium crutches I was shocked! They were thinner than my aluminum alloy crutches and so much lighter-they felt like toothpicks in my hands. Because of the difference in weight; it took me awhile to adjust to the custom titanium crutches.
Because the titanium crutches are uni-body there are no rivets, no adjustment holes and even the handle post is welded on. These custom crutches are incredibly strong and durable.
For the sake of argument let's assume that titanium is titanium-there are not different levels of titanium. Custom crutch manufacturers do not "dilute" titanium with aluminum or some other substance. The question now becomes how much are these custom titanium crutches going to cost me? Looking around the net-here is what I found: Fetterman sells their LiteStix Titanium Custom Forearm Crutches for $895.00.
Enabling Technologies sells their Superlite Titanium Forearm Crutches for $695.00.
Both manufacturers use they same 100% Titanium in their forearm crutches-you be the judge but it looks to me that titanium is titanium ;)
